Community leader urges agitators of Biafra to reconsider action
An elder statesman and Igbo community leader in Kano, Chief Ogbonnaya Kalu, has pleaded to those agitating for Biafra to reconsider their action in the interest of peace and unity.
Kalu made the call in Kano.
“I don’t think it is right for them to start the agitation, Kalu, who was born and brought up in Kano said.
He said those agitating for Biafara had not experienced what happened during the civil war.
“Igbos have been part of Nigeria all along and I see no reason why they should break away from the country,” he said.
He said the agitation for the actualisation of Biafara was politically motivated, hence the need for the government to listen to the agitators.
According to him, there is need for the Federal Government to negotiate with the agitators to ensure sustenance of peace in the country.
“I think the agitators are expecting many things from the new government.’’
He, therefore, advised them to be patient and calm, saying that the Federal Government would listen to them.
“I advise the youths who are agitating to cool down as the government knows what to do,” he said.
